After Hours Emergencies
If you experience a life-threatening emergency, PLEASE DIAL 9-1-1 IMMEDIATELY.
If you have an urgent matter after hours and need to speak to the physician on call, please dial (804) 257-5107, and follow the prompts in the automated system.
There are Several on-call physicians to assist you in the event that Dr. Brown is unavailable. The on-call physician may/may not refill prescriptions. Please note: the physician will determine if the matter is an emergency.
Prescriptions & Refills
Ideally, prescription refills should be handled at your regularly scheduled office visit. During that time, we are able to review with you proper dosages and any potential problems.
We request that you bring all of your current prescription medications, including vitamins and supplements, to each routine appointment. In this way, we can verify your medications and coordinate refills.
We encourage you to make your next annual or follow-up appointment after your office visit. This will assure good preventative care, proper follow-up, and hopefully prevent prescriptions from expiring.
Please make every effort to schedule your follow-up appointment at the time of the office visit. This will assist you in keeping your refills current and prevent you from running out of necessary medicine.
Notification of Results and Patient Reminders
Test Results
We try to notify patients of normal or abnormal results in a timely manner by telephone. For this reason accurate phone numbers and addresses are important.
Annual Exams
We mail out reminders for your annual pap smear 6-8 weeks in advance. If your address or phone number changes, please notify us in writing so we may contact you when necessary.
Patient Forms
Please print out our Patient Information form. Be sure to include your signature for verification. It can be mailed or faxed to (804) 706-5819.
Referrals
Some insurance plans may require a referral for your visit to our office. Please make sure to contact your insurance company and/or your primary care physician to ensure that you get a referral if it is required. Failure to obtain a referral, when necessary, may cause your insurance company to deny your claim. Please bring office notes, labs, and radiology reports from your referring physician.
If testing is necessary, we will obtain the authorization from your insurance company.
Medical Records
Information regarding medical records can be obtained by calling our main office number: (804) 706-5827.
Medical records are kept confidential. We will not release any of your medical information without first obtaining a signed authorization form from you.
